this contribution is dedicated to the analysis of a particular dish of sicilian, and in particular palermitan, cuisine known as 'rosticceria'. the essay investigates the ambivalent status of such bread dough-based dishes, halfway between street food and other categories of dishes. the analysis concerns both the manner and timing of consumption and the food-object itself from the point of view of its gustatory and sensory characteristics.

The topic of the essay is the relationship between time and pure practical reason in the Kant’s Theory of the free determination of the will. We ask if the orientation of the free will to the moral law implies a specific orientation in time, in which the subject can get the sense of the absolute and urgent rational obbligation to the freedom. We integrate these two fields with a thought experiment, proposing ways in which strategists can work with, and through time in managing and turning around declines. The present article attempts to discuss the relationship between two female characters, Thecla and Syncletica, against the wider theoretical background of temporality as it was perceived and construed through literary texts. Syncletica is portrayed as a ‘disciple’ of Thecla. However, while the apocryphal Acts of Paul and Thecla appear to be pervaded with an eschatological expectation, the Life of Saint Syncletica shows signs of a different temporality. In order to do so, it compares different visions of future – and, therefore, of the present of the enunciator – that shape international environmental crisis between ’60 and ’70. Times of narration and narration of the time in Piove all’insù · The article hosts an analysis of the time categories in Luca Rastello’s novel Piove all’insù (2006). In the first section there is a survey of the verb tenses used in the narration of the past by the main character (who is also the narrator). These tenses contribute to make the two periods of time (the 1970s and the 2000s) constantly overlap each other. A second section is dedicated to the influence of the peculiar timeframes on the anti-utopian and pseudo-science-fictional gradient of the novel. In this article, we give some indications of how to deal with this in the discourse of environmental law.
